The work on the dictionary was carried out by a team of teachers from the Kyiv Theological Schools, with the blessing of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine. The editor-in-chief of the publication was the rector of the Kyiv Theological Schools, Archbishop Sylvester of Belogorodsk.
The dictionary is intended to become an important tool for researchers, students, and anyone interested in canon law. The publication will help readers better navigate the complex system of church norms and laws. It contains an interpretation of terms and concepts used in the canon law of the Orthodox Church. In total, the dictionary contains more than 600 definitions, which reveal the key categories, principles and institutions of canon law that regulate the life of the Church, the relations of its members, as well as the relations of the Church with the state and society.
The Brief Explanatory Dictionary of Canon Law will be useful for both theologians and lawyers, as well as for those who seek to more deeply understand the interaction of the Church and society through the prism of canonical norms.
