This edition is intended for use by clergymen on the altar. It contains the Office of Vespers on the Day of Pentecost. This is a special statutory service, which takes place after the dismissal of the liturgy on the Feast of Pentecost.
From Easter until the evening of Pentecost, according to the Church Statute, there is no proclamation of adoration. The three kneeling prayers, which are solemnly recited by the officiating clergy at the Holy Gates, begin the period in which the use of the altar bows again. These prayers are presented in large print, for ease of reading.
These prayers are preceded by the Great Prokimnon and the Litanies with special supplications, which are said by the deacon once a year, only during this service.
All the liturgical texts are given in the traditional version, which is very familiar to priests and churchmen, and which is contained in the Triodion of the Color.
