Description
The writings of the Venerable Isaac have always enjoyed and continue to enjoy enormous respect among Orthodox ascetics of faith and piety. The Venerable Peter Damascene, a writer of the XII century, makes abundant use in his writings of St. Isaac the Syrian and constantly refers to him. The Monk Nikephoros the Solitary, fleeing in the XIV Century, on Athos, in his composition "On Soberness and Preservation of the Heart" makes an extract from the works of the Monk Isaac the Syrian. The famous Russian saint Nil Sorsky in his "Charter on the life of the hermitage" constantly quotes the thoughts of Saint Isaac on various issues of spiritual and moral life. St. Theophan, the hermit of Vyshensky, even composed a prayer to St. Isaac the Syrian.
